Event Details
Crown of the Valley Ultra Backyard invites you to participate in our second annual backyard ultra running race. This grassroots event prioritizes community engagement, making it perfect for both newcomers and seasoned participants. Prepare to take on the challenge while enjoying an unforgettable experience!

The second running of the Crown of the Valley Ultra Backyard on August 15-16, 2026 is based at Pasadena Place, Pasadena, NL. Race start will be at 10am on Sat, August 15th. The entry cap is set at 125 participants (wait-list by email if filled).
The race will follow the backyard ultra looped format, running a 6.7km (4.167 mile) lap every hour, on-the-hour (with each lap required to be completed within a one-hour time limit). The race is won when a single runner successfully completes a lap alone (or if multiple runners finish 24 laps, the fastest 25th lap will be crowned race winner). If no competitor manages to complete one more lap than the others, then all athletes receive a DNF and there is no winner.
The race is entirely self-supported, with no on-course assistance or supplies permitted. Crew assistance, supplies, etc can only be taken between the completion of a lap and the start of the next lap, in the area adjacent to the race start/finish (there's plenty of space to set up your crew help). The loop is a combination of gravel / asphalt roads & trails through Pasadena. The race route will follow the same as last years (see below for map/photos).

The race is open to runners of all levels and goals … 1 loop, 2, 5… 20?… Will we need 24 hours and 100 miles of running to crown a winner?!?

Registration is open (Feb 1, 2026 at 12 noon). Registration is accepted by Google forms, first received / first registered. Race fees will be accepted by e-transfer to confirm your bib. The registration fee is $60, a race waiver will be required at bib pickup (evening of Aug 14th), and parental/guardian permission for minors.
